RE: First Days of School for Students
Thursday, September 2, 2010 (Full Day: 7:40 am to 2:30 pm)
Friday, September 3, 2010 (Early Dismissal Day: 7:40 am to 11:57 am)

The 2010/2011 school year is almost upon us. As we prepare for the opening of school, here are some important notes.

The first day of school for students will be Thursday, September 2. Friday, September 3, will be a shortened day with dismissal at 11:57 am.

Later this month, you will receive a mailing which will include information and forms pertaining to the opening of school. To give you a sense of the timing for a few key items:

• Detailed schedule information will be issued the first day of school.
• Transportation arrangements will be mailed directly to your home toward the end of August, under separate cover.
• A recommended supply list and a copy of the school district’s calendar for 2010/2011 are posted to our website, www.nburlington.com, Middle School, Important Information.
• If your son/daughter wishes to participate in a fall sport, he or she must turn in a sports physical packet by August 30. The forms are available on our website under Middle School, Athletics and in the Main Office. It is strongly recommended that the paperwork be completed and submitted to the school prior to the start of the school year so that your student is cleared to participate when practices begin on or about September 7.

We invite any transferring student and his/her family who registered after June 1, 2010 to join us for a tour of the building on Wednesday, August 25 at 2:00 pm. Assistant Principal, Rosetta Treece, will be your guide. Please plan for a one hour visit. All 7th grade students will have a more extensive orientation/tour on opening day.

On Wednesday, September 8, we will present an Activity Fair during the school day which will give each student an opportunity to learn about extra curricular clubs, service organizations and other activities. Students are encouraged to become an important part of our school community by participating in our extensive activities program.

Enjoy the remainder of the summer and we will see you on September 2.

A Mid-Summer Greeting from New High School Principal Mr. Craig Wigley

Before summer ends I wanted to introduce myself to our Northern families and provide you with a short biography and some of the attributes I will bring to the Northern Burlington Regional High School.

It is a pleasure to have been appointed the High School Principal here at Northern. In June, I spent 5 days observing the high school while in session before beginning my duties at Northern on July 1, 2010. The students and staff were impressive, informative and welcoming. This met every expectation I had of the outstanding school community that exists at Northern Burlington and especially in the high school.

Here is a quick picture of who I am and where I came from. I grew up one of six boys in my family. I am the 4th son and can be described as the typical middle child. I grew up in Hainesport, NJ. I attended Hainesport School, Rancocas Valley Regional High School, Trenton State College, and finally Rider University. I am married to my wife Melissa going on 20 years and have 3 sons.

Throughout my 22 years in education and leading to this point in my career, I have worked hard to develop the reputation as a team player and a positive contributor to my colleagues, school community and school district. I have been a leader as a teacher in the classroom, coach on the fields, and school administrator for the past six years. I lead by example and take pride in the results of hard work that benefits the school. You will find me to be involved in student life, approachable, and a good listener. I will be honest in my feedback to you, your son or daughter and the high school staff. I assure you I will always have our students’ needs as my focus for continuing a tradition of excellence that permeates the school district.
Please enjoy the remainder of the summer. Be safe and we will see everyone back in September.
